RICHMOND, Va. – Mapcom Systems, a VertiGIS company and global leader in telecommunication network management software, is pleased to announce Beacon Broadband and SEI FIBER have begun the implementation of Mapcom’s M4® Solutions Suite. Both electric cooperative-driven projects selected Mapcom’s software for its robust fiber management platform and interoperability with industry-leading business systems.

Beacon Broadband logoBeacon Broadband is a wholly owned subsidiary of Coos-Curry Electric Cooperative (CCEC), which serves the beautiful southern coast of Oregon. Analysis performed by the cooperative shows an estimated 20% of its members lack sufficient access to high-speed internet. CCEC decided to fix this problem and created Beacon Broadband to bring the high-speed fiber experience where no one else will go.

“We know that broadband access is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity,” says Paul Recanzone, Beacon Broadband’s General Manager. “The vitality bringing fiber to our rural communities will inspire is tremendous. That’s why we chose Mapcom – we wanted to start with the right tools for the job on day one, with customer one. We’re confident that M4® will help us to launch and grow our business successfully.”

SEI FIBER logoSEI FIBER is a division of Southeastern Indiana REMC that will bring fiber-to-the-home access with speeds ranging from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps to the cooperative’s members. Like Beacon Broadband, SEI FIBER is the result of a member-wide survey that confirmed a need for high-speed broadband internet service its seven-county service area – an area where private providers have yet to deploy fiber.

“Just like electricity in the 1930s and 40s, building fiber-to-the-home provides our members with a critical service that will make sure our community doesn’t fall behind,” says Ron Barnhart, GIS Coordinator. “Mapcom’s expertise in the industry will give us a leg up as we plan and build our network over the next four years.”

With M4® Beacon Broadband and SEI FIBER will be able to manage their new fiber networks thr

ough every phase – design, construction, and day-to-day operations and maintenance. Both providers will leverage M4®’s best-of-breed architecture to integrate data with other business-critical systems, like billing software, element management systems, and the GIS applications that manage their electrical grids.

“Beacon Broadband and SEI FIBER are both excellent examples of how the industry is evolving,” says Collin Granger, CEO and President of Mapcom Systems. “We’re seeing lots of organizations join the effort to bridge the digital divide in rural America, which is incredibly exciting. We look forward to partnering with Beacon and SEI for years to come as they expand broadband access in Oregon and Indiana.”
